The second season of the horror TV series Penny Dreadful is well on its way after a pretty successful premiere. The tone of the second season will be set on its premiere which Showtime has made available on YouTube. The said preview is heavily edited though but it beats waiting for the May 3rd premiere for some. This tactic has been employed by Showtime in the past to drum up interest in their shows. Whether this will increase the show's viewership still remains to be seen.

Josh Hartnett went on record after the first season that the second season will have plenty of focus on his character protecting that of Eva Green. Vanessa Ives, Green's character has been revealed to be possessed by a demon. The first season shed light on Ethan Chandler's real identity. The character played by Hartnett was also revealed to be a werewolf.

The second season of this TV series has been confirmed to have 10 episodes. The continuation would have the show's stars coming back after a very successful run. Aside from Green and Hartnett, the show also stars Timothy Dalton as Sir Malcolm, Harry Treadaway as Dr. Frankenstein, and Danny Sapany as Sembene. Reeve Carney playing the character Dorian Gray and Rory Kinnear as the Creature are also back for the second season.

The TV series is being produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan. The series' name came from the term used to denote cheap British fiction publication of the 19th century. These publications are usually filled with sensational subject matter.

The series has been well received by viewers as it has been drawing more than 4 million viewers every week according to Showtime. With such viewership, the decision to make a second season must have been an easy one.

With the season premiere now available on YouTube, the show's fans should be looking to learn more about what the second episode has in store for the show's characters.
