The Windows 10 official release date has been confirmed by Microsoft, together with the announcement that the Technical Preview build will expire on April 30. AMD's CEO announced last week the summer launching of the upcoming OS, particularly in July.
"The news slipped during the recent conference calls of the company, and mentioned that the company aims to get it out to the market before the back-to-school promotions begin," winbeta.org reports.
Now on Build 10061, Microsoft has included Windows 10 enhancements on Start Menu, Taskbar, and Action Center. Technical Support via the Contact Support app can also be expected with the current build, as well as the return of the Solitaire to Windows.
Functional changes in the Start Menu include the the ability to resize the Start menu, a functionality which has been absent in previous builds. The power button has also been relaced to the bottom left of the Start menu. Both have been apparent in the leaked build of 10056, but wasn't included in the features for Window's Insider Program participants to use. On aesthetic side, the Start Menu can be made transparent or not - an option that's also available for Taskbar and Action Center.
Mail and calendar apps has also received major tweaks, which will be accessed by Windows Insider for the first time. With the Build 10061, Outlook users can now include tables, text editing capabilities from Word, and picture when writing emails. For tablet users, the left and right swipe gestures will make performing these triaging actions - delete, move, mark as spam/unread, flag - quick and easy. These default actions are customizable too for users to adjust depending on their needs.
A new button that allows shifting from Mail to Calendar is also added. Speaking of, Calendar has also received a major update on the current build. Improvements include quick access to a month view as well as full appointment list while adding a new one.
Known issues include the desktop app called Win32 won't lunch from the start, the Windows Store Beta and Project Spartan get unpinned after updating, every letter typed appear twice on the new version of the Mail and Calendar apps, and a black screen could appear during login/logout. Many of these and other bugs found on the current build have already been resolved or will be given the appropriate solution once the final version is available.
With the Windows 10 summer release date confirmed, will Microsoft be able to provide a polished OS, complete with all the ambitious goals it has set since it's released of the Preview build?
