Things are getting a little confusing on the upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie as fans puzzle if Mister Fantastic's powers to stretch his own body will change on the new installment. This is due to the official website's character bio section wherein it addresses how Reed Richards' powers work and led to reports that say Richards can not stretch his own body. To dispel incoming misinterpretation, writer and producer Simon Kinberg sheds some light on the "Fantastic Four."
The website's character bio section on Reed Richards says that he can warp the space around him, and appear to stretch his own body into impossible forms. This explanation is actually different from the Ultimate Marvel Comics on which the new installment is said to be based. This also had led to reports presuming the worst. According to BadAss Digest, it seems that Richards can't actually stretch his own body, specifying he can only wrap space around him. So concisely, his body stretching is because of the space or time trick. IGN also has an explanation for this. His body isn't shifting, but the space around him is, the website told.
However, fans should not worry and be perplexed anymore as writer and producer Simon Kinberg has spoken up to clear that things aren't really changed. He made it very clear that Richards will stretch. In an interview with HitFix, Kinberg explained: "I think it was confusing," he coincided. "I was a little confused by it myself. The intent was to try to explain the power with some sort of scientific explanation, but as you pointed out, most of his powers defy what we know about physics. The upshot of it is that he stretches in his movie. That is his power. That's the simplest explanation."
When asked if he knows where the source of the confusion came from, Kinberg claimed he is oblivious himself. "I'm not sure what the derivation of it was. There are so many materials on movies like this, and not all of it comes from the same source." As for the excited fans, he also spoke how close to finished they are already with the film. The screenwriter said that they're still working, fine-tuning, and pushing to get each shot closer to what they want. The fans will also be appeased as the new reboot will be different from the other two movies, according to him.
Marvel Comics' "Fantastic Four," centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate universe, which alters their physical form and grants them new abilities. They must learn how to harness these abilities and work together to save the Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
The upcoming superhero film is set to hit big screen this August 7, 2015. Aside from Miles Teller being Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards, the stellar cast also includes Michael B. Jordan as Human Torch, Jamie Bell as the Thing, Kate Mara as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, Tim Blake Nelson as Mole Man, and among others.
