Is the new Spidey movie going to be called Spider-Man: The New Avenger? If this rumor is true, this might pave the way for Spidey to join the Avengers team.
The Spider-Man reboot news is all over the internet, and it seems that yet another Spidey news has recently exploded. This time, the rumor is about the title of the Web slinger's upcoming solo movie. Reports have been circulating that the new movie now has a working title and it is strongly connected to the Marvel Cinematic universe.
Although it has not been officially confirmed by any of the bigwigs over at Sony and Marvel Studios, it has been rumored that the working title is Spider-Man: The New Avenger. This seems to entertain the scheme of adding the Wall Crawler to the roster of new heroes who will be joining the Avengers team. Remember Captain America's first solo outing? It also attached the word "Avenger" to the title (Captain America: The First Avenger), giving us a hint that he's going to be a member of the Avengers. And this same move of attaching the word "Avenger" to the Spider-Man reboot will probably cement the studio's plans on making the latest Spidey movie as far away from the previous movies as possible.
If indeed they will go ahead with the reported working title, it can be assumed that the story line they'd be following for this film is pretty much closer to that of the comic books. Although the confirmed plot is that of Spidey in his high school years, it can be assumed that this is also an opportunity for the story to develop as preparation for him to join the Avengers team. It might not really go as far as the comic book versions, but it is pretty near.
The working title Spider-Man: The New Avenger is not yet confirmed by any of the reps at Sony or Marvel Studios. We'll have to wait and see if they will proceed with the said title. Until then, the new Spidey movie is scheduled for release on July 28, 2017.
