'Gears of War' Remastered set for release on Xbox One; Microsoft, Splash Damage reveals improved gameplay, new features

Players and fanboys of the military sci-fi third-person shooter video game "Gears of War" on Xbox One may be getting a new treatment as reports claim Microsoft and Splash Damage are developing a remastered version of the original game. The re-release of the popular game for Xbox One will also include updated visuals and a whole lot more of new features, reports say.

Speculations firstly emerged on Epic Games' "Gears of War" currently in works for Xbox One. Some additional information were dished out by Polygon on its website claiming the game will include updated visuals and modified cutscenes, which were developed by Sydney-based animation and production studio Plastic Wax. Polygon also reports that they got a first look of the remastered version of the game's opening cinematic, revealing Locust invasion's renewed visuals.

It was first conjectured that Black Studios will be developing the "Gears of War" for Xbox One, but Polygon dispelled the supposition as the updated information on the website says Splash Damage will be the one working on the Xbox One remaster of the game. The British video game developer is known for popular games including "Brink" and "Dirty Bomb." Polygon also backed this up by reporting the UK-based studio has job listings that mention they are working on a "very well known and highly popular AAA title with next gen technology."

This is also somewhat credible as manager of the Black Tusk Studios Rod Fergusson said last month that they aren't working for any remake of the popular video game. Fergusson also denied rumors of a "Marcus Fenix Collection," a compilation of all the three "Gears of War" games. This is because Microsoft was previously rumored to be working on it and Fergusson is previously the Director of Production at Epic Games. "I love the passion, but there's no Marcus Fenix Collection. We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects," he said in March.

Meanwhile, Polygon also says that the remastered version runs at 60 frames per second (fps) during multiplayer. This means if the fps is higher, the movement of the game is more detailed and fluid, and if it is the opposite, the game will be jerky and sporadic. The remake also features an improved lighting and an increase in texture quality.

The developer Epic Games sold the "Gears of War" franchise to Microsoft in 2014. While the remake sounds thrilling, it has yet to be officially announced. Fans are waiting for Microsoft to confirm all of the reports at the Electronic Entertainment Expo commonly known as E3 on June in LA.

"Gears of War" turns 10 in 2016. Its first game was released on Xbox 360 in November 2006. It may be good as well if Microsoft decides to reinvent it to try to catch the attention of non-gamers. This will also help on the good marketing of Xbox One, isn't it? Have you had your first play of "Gears of War" today?
