Photos of Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard for their movie Macbeth have been released online wherein they don medieval age costumes. The new movie is said to be more perilous than the play it has adapted.
Actors Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard look very medieval in three new pictures released online recently for the movie Macbeth. Empire online posted solo pictures of Michael and Marion in their roles as an army general prophesied to be a King and Lady Macbeth respectively. The other photo showed the two in an intimate scene. They were both dressed up in medieval-aged costumes created by Oscar winner Jacqueline Durran.
The setting of the film was adapted from William Shakespeare's play of the same title and it sets in a war-torned Scotland. According to reports, Fassbender, a general, meets three women after the battle who predict that he will become a King. Cotillard's role as Lady Macbeth, the husband of the general, is a politician and an encouraging wife to the general's ambissions. Australian director Justin Kurzel has hinted that the feel of the film will be "western" and "much more dangerous" than other versions of the play. Macbeth is set to premiere at Cannes in May while a UK release will be seen in October.
According to a report, the movie has been shot in Virginia, U.S.A. although most of it was filmed in the UK. Jack Reynor will also play as Malcolm and Paddy Considine as Banquo. Malcolm is the son of King Duncan and is next in line to the throne. Banquo is the general's friend who does nothing in order for the prophecy to come true. The general on the other hand has an evil plan of killing the King in order to replace him.
British actors David Thewlis plays as King Duncan, Sean Harris as Macduff and Elizabeth Debicki as Lady Macduff. As for the script, Jacob Koskoff, Todd Louiso and Michael Lesslie have been reported to do updated lines.
Pictures of Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard are already telling a story for Macbeth who is considered as a tragic hero. Fans will get to see how tragic the battle scenes will be in just a few months.
