Speculations that Jamie Dornan won't be returning in the "Fifty Shades Sequel" were all proven false with the release of the "Fifty Shades Darker" teaser trailer. However, the sneak peek sparked another set of speculations that Universal Pictures is preparing a darker sequel. Will Elena Lincoln contribute to the change in the plot?
Universal Pictures released a less than 30-second teaser of "Fifty Shades Darker" that showed Jamie Dornan wearing his tux and a mask. The teaser is set in black and white with a thrilling background music that made the fans wonder if the sequel will indeed take a darker turn.
Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures, confirmed that the "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel will be "more of a thriller" compared to the first film. This leads to a lot of possibilities including the appearance of Elena Lincoln.
Diehards of E.L. James' book series all know that Elena Lincoln is the first female dominant of Christian Grey who will later become his business partner. There are a lot of reports on who will be the star who will portray Elena Lincoln in the upcoming sequel since she has an important role in the plot.
Elena Lincoln will meet Anastasia Steele in a masquerade ball which might happen after the scene shown in the teaser trailer where Christian is wearing a mask. Elena will spark conflict in Ana and Christian's relationship as she will become antagonistic towards Anastasia after learning that she and Mr. Grey have a serious relationship. Elena confronts Ana and accuses her of being a gold digger. Because of her traumatizing actions towards Ana, Christian will cut his business ties with Elena.
Another character that might add thrill to the story is Leila Williams. She used to be the one of Christian's submissives who will stalk Anastasia after experiencing a mental breakdown. At one point in the story, Leila will threaten Ana by pointing a gun at her. The situation was pacified by Christian but Ana still felt threatened by Leila.
"Fifty Shades Darker" may literally have a darker plot as revealed by the short teaser trailer released recently. Fans still has almost two years to find out if the sequel will indeed be darker and if Elena Lincoln will be the main cause of that. For now, fans can release a sigh of relief since Jamie Dornan is sure to return in the sequel as together with Dakota Johnson.
