The Witcher 3 Hailed As Most Anticipated Game of 2015 Even As Story Opens on Geralt’s Close

After a number of triple A games have already been released, a few more are expected to come later this year. However, of the upcoming games to be released, the Witcher 3 is now considered one of the most anticipated games of 2015, the other being Batman Arkham Knight.

In an insightful inforgraphic done by Gameinformer based on a tally they made after questioning readers "What Is Your Most Anticipated Game for the Remainder Of 2015?" It showed that Batman Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt are most anticipated, with the Witcher 3 getting more votes.

A Few would-be anticipated games set for release this year apparently lost steam due to controversies and rumors. An example is Star Wars Battlefront that started off with a "break the internet" promise but turn out to be a lackluster monster riddled with controversies. EA's "milking allegations" dampen the excitement of fans as rumors of gameplay features intentionally hidden away for DLC releases after fans bought the game spread.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is the next instalment in CD Projekt Red's epic franchise. The game already has a wide fan base and is the main the reason why it is highly anticipated in the polls. However, fans of the series will also need to accept the fact that the game's protagonist, Gerallt, will have his final curtain on this latest release.

According to Jakub Szamalek, Senior writer at CD Projekt Red in an interview with IGN,

"I think good stories must have an ending. You cannot extend them indefinitely, and we felt that Geralt has had such an amazing adventure, and his saga is already so long and complex that this seemed like a good point to think about an appropriate finale for the story."

However, fans should not worry that this might be the end of the series, Szamalek quickly reassured gamers this is not the end to the Witcher saga.

"The Witcher universe is a very big place with a lot of NPCs, a lot of characters, a lot of places we haven't shown yet...So, we might return to it at some point...but we think that this is a good place to let Geralt enjoy his retirement and try something new."

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt release date is on May 19, 2015 on the PS4, Xbox one and PC.
