Now that Spider-Man's in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his latest reboot doesn't have to be about Peter Parker only. In fact, the upcoming Spider-Man reboot (which is rumored to star Asa Butterfield as a teenage Peter Parker) may also star a Marvel hero we're already quite familiar with: Daredevil.
Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, a blind attorney who fights crime as a vigilante by using his superhuman senses, is rumored to be joining Spider-Man in his first official Marvel Cinematic Universe film. It's not yet clear just how Daredevil will factor in, but given that both characters live in New York City, it's not unlikely that they might meet up at some point. Cox also mentioned recently that he'd want to appear alongside Spider-Man in a storyline that involved Peter Parker posing as Daredevil to boost Matt Murdock's image.
Daredevil, which was released on Netflix in April to rave reviews, also stars Vincent D'Onofrio as the villainous Kingpin, one of the biggest Marvel villains in New York City. D'Onofrio has been widely praised for his performance, and it may be that he's joining the Spider-Man update as well. Spider-Man and Kingpin have long been rivals in Marvel Comics, so it would make sense to put them together in a film like this.
A previous Spider-Man rumor also mentioned that the film would involve Peter Parker trying to audition for the Avengers, with Iron Man serving as a mentor to the young superhero. Other rumors also included the presence of the Sinister Six, a multi-villain team of Spider-Man villains who are also reportedly getting their own film from Sony. It's not clear if the newest Daredevil rumors gel with these previous ones, but it's possible both might show up.
Spider-Man will be making his first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance in next year's Captain America: Civil War, where the character will be torn between sides as Captain America battles Iron Man. Afterwards, he'll graduate to his own film, the planned reboot starring (maybe) Asa Butterfield.
Spider-Man will premiere in theaters on July 28, 2017.
