Sega won’t have a booth at E3 2015; Is the company on the verge of complete downfall?

By

As this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) draws nearer, companies in the electronic gaming industries are busy getting their booths ready. Not Sega, as they have just announced that they will not be having their own booth at E3 this year.

June 16-18 2015 is an exciting date for gaming enthusiasts as the E3 will be commencing at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This is one of the year's largest conventions as games and software developers, programmers, distributors, the media, and everyone involved or interested in the electronic gaming industry will be in attendance. This is also the avenue where new games, partnerships, and other similar events gets to be announced. And this is why any game developer should join this expo.

But Sega has made a statement that they will not be having their own booth at the E3 this year. Does this translate to the company's status today in the gaming industry? They did say that they will team up with some of their partners, though. So the Sega logo will still be visible during the expo, except that they'll be partnering up with Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft booths.

For the older generation of gamers (and the younger ones who are into retro games), Sega was iconic in the early stages of electronic gaming, starting with the humble coin-operated arcade. Sega was one of the pioneers when it came to game developing and they had some titles that were big hits back then. They were relatively successful. With such names as Virtual Cop, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Harrier, and House of the Dead, among others, crossing on from arcade to gaming consoles. But a case of the wrong moves and losing touch with marketing magic has caused the company some setbacks and has then never really regained their dominance in the gaming industry.

But despite this seemingly gloomy development, a Sega representative stated that the company is concentrating their efforts on their relocation to Southern California and promised to make some big announcements right after they've settled.
