The first worthwhile news to discuss is the fact that the title is taking a neutralizing change. How will Treyarch, the game's studio, go about this? It would mainly be through adding playable female characters, specifically for the single-player campaign.

This will wash the stereotypical feel that CoD stands upon since the main character would always be the image of a tough and bearded man.

A report from Gamespot offers to explain this move as it goes, "According to Jason Blundell, the campaign director for Black ops III, they took inspiration from the character of Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect series." The said character, which ought to be noted as female, embodies strength without letting the world accommodate one's gender.

Players of Call of Duty would know that the playable female characters would only provide a new experience for the single player setup. This is because multiplayer mode already allows selection of gender. A report from TheMarySue describes this as "a small step - but a step forward nonetheless."
