As Metallica completes their anticipated new album following 2008's Death Magnetic, the band continues to work hard in playing headlining shows. The band is set to play a handful of tours including Rock in Rio in Las Vegas on May 9th, and Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 1.
Metallica has been on the road since they started back in 1981, barely taking breaks to play back to back shows for their fans. In March 2014, Metallica started a tour called "Metallica by Request" wherein fans were given the freedom to vote for the songs on the setlist, with the online votes closing a week prior to the show date in order for the band to rehearse.
The band has been working on their 10th studio album. In an interview by Billboard, guitarist Kirk Hammett says that the album is in progress. "The songs are ever-changing at this point. Nothing is etched in stone. We still have a lot of material have to sift through, still".
While fans wait for the coming of the 10th studio album following Death Magnetic, the band is all set to play a handful of shows this summer of 2015. Metallica will be playing their eighth Rock in Rio show in Las Vegas this Saturday, May 9 alongside rock heavyweights Faith No More, System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age, and Slipknot among others.
The band will also be at Lollapalooza in Chicago this year as they come back to the festival after 20 years on the Saturday show, August 1. Metallica will also be at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to headline as they join the festivities of the 30th year anniversary of the world-renowned festival taking place in September 18 to 27, 2015.
Metallica will be playing a few shows across Europe in the coming months. Head over to the Metallica official website for a full list of tour dates. Metallica will be in Las Vegas for Rock in Rio this Saturday, May 9.
