EA Again Pumps Hype Machine as Naughty Dog’s Amy Hennig Tweets Hint of Smugglers in Upcoming Star Wars Game

By

EA's internal marketing machine is again cranked up as bits and pieces of teases begin to leak out. The most recent is with former Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig, tweeting what could be a hint that the new Star Wars game will feature Smugglers.

Scoundrels in Star Wars terminology or more precisely according to Han Solo's list of lively quotes refer to smugglers who roam the universe for loot. Hennig's tweet of "scoundrels" has been interpreted by many as a tease that the new Star Wars game may include or revolve on smugglers. Though promising as it may be, many are hoping that it won't be a Star Wars- Uncharted reskin, which was the issue with Battlefront as a Battlefield reskin.

Amy Hennig joined Visceral after a 10 year career in Naughty Dog. Her sudden departure from Naughty Dog sparked controversy but it was quickly stamped out by official responses from Naughty Dog executives. Hennig was a writer and director for the Uncharted series and many are assuming that some Uncharted vibe will seep through to this new Star Wars game.

In a time when EA is being battered by negative comments on its upcoming Star Wars Battlefield title, it is timely for news like this to change the mood and again step up the anticipation for fans. Excitement broke down over Star Wars Battlefield when comments that EA is "intentionally" withholding content from the game to be sold separately as DLCs and Expansions. Though EA adamantly denies this, the apparent small content in Battlefront available on release day, seemingly supports the allegations.

As another Star Wars title is underway and creative minds such as Amy Hennig on the helm, EA might still make a good fortune out of the hype, especially as the highly awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released on December.
