Paul McCartney is set to headline Lollapalooza's July 31 Friday schedule, while Metallica fronts the August 1 Saturday set, and Florence Welch taking the August 2 Sunday slot.
This year is Paul McCartney's first appearance in Lollapalooza. The Beatle, who is normally seen holding sold out shows in stadiums, will headline the July 31 Friday schedule along with acts such as The Weeknd, Alt-J, Alabama Shakes, Kaskade, Dillon Francis, Gary Clark Jr., Flying Lotus, DJ Snake, Hot Chip, and The War on Drugs.
The Saturday August 1 set will see Metallica headline the festival for the first time since 1996, the days of travelling Lollapalooza. The heavy metal supergroup will be playing alongside Sam Smith, Kid Cudi, Alesso, Tame Impala, Brand New, Carnage, Walk the Moon, The Tallest Man on Earth, Chet Faker, Charli XCX, Boys Noize, Death from Above 1979, and Django Django.
Parents are given ample advice by a team of doctors from Lurie Children's Hospital this year, indicating that they have encountered numerous cases of underage females in the emergency room during the Lollapalooza music festival held at Grant Park in Chicago. They encourage parents to step up in order to monitor their underage teens, especially since more than half of the patients admitted to the emergency room are female teenagers.
Florence + The Machine closes out the festival on the August 2 Sunday schedule alongside acts such as Bassnectar, Of Monsters and Men, A$AP Rocky, TV on the Radio, Kygo, Twenty One Pilots, Nicky Romero, Marina and the Diamonds, FKA Twigs, and Lord Huron. Lollapalooza started as a touring festival but has since been rooted to Grant Park since 2005. The music festival is set to debut Lollapalooza Europe on September 12-13 2015 in Berlin, Germany. The festival has recently closed its Brazil festival branch with international acts such as Jack White, Robert Plant, The Smashing Pumpkins, Kasabian, Steve Aoki, Major Lazer and Interpol in the roster, among a few.
