The OnePlus One smartphoone recently received the highly-anticipated CyanogenMod 12s OS upgrade, bringing all the key features of Android 5.0 However, a number of issues have been reported to have been experienced after the upgrade.
Several OnePlus One owners have reported overheating and battery drain. While Cyanogen tries to address the issue, it has been recommended to downgrade the OS back to Android 4.4.4.
The downgrade has pre-requisites to be satisifed:
- TWRP or ClockWorkMod custom recovery has to be pre-installed
- Battery has at least 70% of battery charge
- Enable the USB debugging option (via the System menu)
- Data has to have been backed up
To downgrade do the following:
- Download the necessary ROM files: CM11s 33R file, Android v4.4.4 KitKat for OnePlus One, OTA update for 33R to 38R, OTA update for 38R to 44S
- Copy the files and paste them to the internal storage's root directory
- Turn off the tphone, then press and hold the power and volume down simultaneously
- The device will restart in the Recovery mode; click on Wipe then Advance
- Wipe cache, system, user data and Dalvik Cache
- Install the zip file and ignore any error message prompts
- Reboot; take note that the first boot will take time
- Once the device starts, reboot to Recovery Mode again and flash the files according to downgrade order
A number of other issues have been reported, with various solutions or workaround created for them.
In the meantime, the Cyanogen team has resumed the OTA update for OnePlus One with the new build YNG1TAS17L that addresses the issues of the previous update, and adds Ok OnePlus voice activation functionality.
To install Cyanogen OS 12 YNG1TAS17L rooted/cleaned ROM, do the following:

- Disconnect the phone from the PC and turn it off
- Boot the phone into recovery mode by pressing Volume Down and Power keys simultaneously
