September is the month to watch out for, especially with the iPhone 7 and the iPod Touch 6th Gen supposedly scheduled to be released then.
Reports indicate that both devices are set for Q3 2015, possibly in September.
Rumors are abound that instead of getting the iPhone 6S as expected Apple fans are getting the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus instead.
As for the specs, as early as now it is expected that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will have the latest processor chip from the company, rumored to be the A9, the mass production of which has been given to Samsung.
By all indicators, everyone is thinking that the iPhone 6 Plus is no longer coming, hence everyone is looking towards the iPhone 7.
With this, the iOS 9 which is reportedly in the works as well, will see the light of day in the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, as well as in the iPod Touch 6th Gen. More details about the latest iOS is expected to be revealed in June at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference.
Another highly-anticipated product, the iPod Touch 6th Gen, is also rumored to be on its way to a Q3 release. If that is true, then having it released with the iPhone 7 is going to make a huge statement.
It's been three years since the previous iPod Touch was released. The 6th Gen was expected last year, given Apple's two-year release schedule of new Touch models. Understandably, fans of the Touch are very much eager and frustrated at this point. The success of the iPhone 6 may have contributed to the iPod Touch's extended hiatus.
Apple's next rumored flagship device, the iPhone 7, is going to come with two cameras on the back of the phone and a voice-unlocking function as replacement for the Force Touch ID. The iPhone manufacturer's answer to Spotify is also going to come with the newest flagship device.
As for the physical design, not much change is seen as functionality has been given priority over aesthetic appeal. That means, Apple will stick with the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch model. The Wall Street Journal reported that a pink version is in the works.
The new iPod Touch 6th Gen is expected to come out with a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch model in pink, yellow, red, silver, gray, and blue variants. As for the hardware, it's possible it would have an Apple A8 chipset - that is, until the A9 is officially unveiled - containing a 1.4GHz dual-core Cyclone CPU and a PowerVR 6450 GPU with 1GB RAM. It will come with an 8MP main camera and a 1.5 front cam. For internal storage, the device will have a 32GB and a 64GB variant. The unit is also said to be water-resistant.
With Apple being silent about both the iPhone 7 and the iPod Touch 6th Gen, people can only speculate at this point. Speculation means, that there is a market for both products. Perhaps there would be some updates from Apple in the coming days, maybe during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference or the London Tech Week?
