Spider Man's story has been told a bunch of times already, but if the rumors about the planned reboot are to be believed, then a new side to the superhero's story may be coming to cinemas.
Spider Man movies are tough to pull off mainly because people are already familiar with his story. They know about the tragic death of his Uncle Ben, they know about his girl troubles, and they know about the troubled young man struggling to cope with all of his new responsibilities.
This makes the rumored plans for the reboot intriguing at the very least. At the moment, the rumor says the reboot will star a Peter Parker still in high school, dealing with all the same problems high school kids do, according to Flicksided.
The new Spider Man movie series will also reportedly be made up of four different movies, meaning one each for every year in high school. Parker will also be post-spider bite in the movie if the rumor is to be believed.
Spider Man has always afforded filmmakers with the ability to combine the superhero story with that of a coming of age tale, and it looks as though the reboot plans to take the character in that direction. Now, it's worth seeing if the decision will pay off.
The reboot is still largely a mystery at this point, and no actor has been officially given the role of Peter Parker as of yet. According to Cinema Blend, Asa Butterfield is the frontrunner for the role, with others such as Timothee Chalamet, Tom Holland, Liam James, and Nat Wolff still in the running.
As for the films director, IGN reports that John Francis Daley, Jared Hess, Jonathan M. Goldstein, Jonathan Levine, Ted Melfi, and Jason Moore are the ones being considered. More should be known about the Spider Man reboot once the leading man and director are finally named.
The new Spider Man is scheduled to be released on July 28, 2017.
