H1Z1 Latest Patch Adds Playable Female Character, Construction Changes, Enhanced Recipes; PS4 Version In the Works?

By

H1Z1 has been impressing players as a survival zombie game even at its alpha stage. Last May 1, a patch has been released which introduced a playable female character along with various features for enhanced gameplay.

The full patch details were announced on Reddit by developer, Daybreak Games. Prior to talking about the much-awaited female character, several features and enhancements are worth mentioning as listed on AttackoftheFanBoy.

Players, even those who are versed with CounterStrike, will be pleased that flashbangs are now included in H1Z1. The device will explode 3 seconds after being thrown. Anyone who is within a radius of 7 meters will be blinded. Certain recipes have also been altered and added such as for a metal wall as well as for yeast and ethanol, respectively.

In terms of "construction changes," there would be an increase in the "no placement" radius, which will, however, not affect the base owner and those grouped with him. Also, if a foundation owner does not come back for 2 weeks, the foundation becomes un-owned and may be possessed by a different gamer.

The new playable female character becomes the topic of a thorough interview over at Gamespot with Sebastian Strzalkowski, the art director of Daybreak. When asked as to why female avatars were not released initially in H1Z1, he answered that the game was still unfinished when it was launched - as it still is now. The female model in the patch is just the first of her kind and more improvements would follow.

Players who are concerned if there would be a particular advantage between the female and the male player, Strzalkowski explains that they really worked on the female's skeleton to be the same as the male's. In the illustrations shown, the former has an athletic build, along with the simple and unisex outfit. This implies that the new character will only add variety to the game but it will not give any form of edge.

H1Z1 is continually being enhanced but avid gamers are lucky enough to experience the game even in its early stages. Daybreak Games charges $19.99 for early access, allowing zombie-loving players to go along their journey in developing the title. For those using PS4, further announcements will reveal the release date.
