New Android 5.0/5.0.2 update is now rolling out for Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, and Xperia Z2 Tablet. Other devices in line are the Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z3v, and Xperia Tablet Z.

The Lollipop upgrade included fixes and improvements such as:

• Ensured lock screen/notification bar, where it doesn't indicate "no service" when the device has coverage.
• "Close-all" button in the activity menu, enabling users to easily close all app at once.
• Unblocked units with server policies (such as Exchange Active Sync for e-mail), to allow the Lollipop lock-screen notifications
• Ensured the LED light is lit across all sound modes - and no longer offset by "silent."
• Made the necessary fixes to enable the easy movement of content from internal memory to external microSD card
• Improved messaging functionality in Ultra stamina mode

The Android 5.0.2 update already arrived in Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3, especially in the Xperia Z2 with model number 23.1.A.1.28. It is expected that the Lollipop upgrade would hit other Xperia Z series. A screenshot was previously spotted on the net that showed Xperia Z (C6603) device model running the Android 5.0.2 mobile operating system with build code 10.6.A.0. This is in line with Xperia Z's previous Lollipop upgrade code 10.5.1.A.0.

With the update, there will be improvements on visual display and performance, Material Design view, notification cards on the lock screen, added customization features, battery saver feature, enhancement of the overall security, multiple user device sharing, better network handoff connectivity, and OK Google.

The authenticity of the screenshot was first doubted, but later confirmed true as Sony Philippines replied to a Twitter message from an Xperia Z owner. The company branch said that "Lollipop upgrade for Xperia Z will start rolling out by next week."

Additional features of the Android 5.0.2 will bring various animation graphics, replacement of Dalvik with ART, and option to transfer apps from phone flash memory to SD card. The Sony Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z3v, and Xperia Tablet Z are expected to receive the latest Lollipop upgrade.
