'Destiny' expansion set for September 'The Taken King' predicted to be biggest addition to the sci-fi shooter game

By

As "Destiny" neared its first year anniverasry, the sci-fi shooter game was reported to be taking a major overhaul in autumn. That would be the game's major September update, which would be dubbed as "The Taken King."

"The Taken King," which would be a new Bungie trademark had a logo reminiscent of the Hive, based on a report from EuroGamer. With this, members of the gaming community believed that the Taken King might be a reference to Oryx. "Destiny" players were able to meet and beat his son, Crota, in "The Dark Below."

"The Taken King" was originally planned to be called "Comet," which would also be "Destiny 1.5" in the game series; however, there was no specific reason given for the upcoming expansion's name change. What would be clear was the report that the upcoming expansion would be offering more content than the first two Destiny expansion packs. Add to that, the upcoming expansion pack following "House of Wolves was rumored to include all the previous Destiny content and would be launched in a boxed version since it would be released on the game's first anniversary.

As was mentioned earlier, "Destiny" players might soon be seeing themselves back at the Hive; it would be "offering 12 new missions four strikes, six Crucible maps and a new raid," based on a report from CinemaBlend. However, Bungie had not yet confirmed these details apart from the fact that the expansion pack would be released by fall this year.

On other news, Activision had been caught teasing the upcoming expansion pack "House of Wolves" as well as a hint about "The Taken King," based on a report from GameSpot. Activision had already stated that the upcoming expansion pack would be "biggest addition to the Destiny universe yet, across all modes of play."

Add to that, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said that "we have a very robust content plan for 'Destiny' starting with our second major expansion pack, 'House of Wolves,' and then you'll also see content being dropped throughout the summer [. . .] and then in the fall we will have a major release, which will be the biggest addition to the Destiny universe yet, across all modes of play. Unfortunately, I don't have more details than that today, but we're confident it's going to be incredibly appealing, not just to our current fans, but also to people who haven't yet joined the 'Destiny' universe; it's going to be that big of an expansion."

So far, that would be what both Bungie and Activision would be willing to reveal about the future of "Destiny," as avid fans hang on the edge of their seats.
