Given Jared Leto's involvement in Suicide Squad, we all kind of expected that he'd show up in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice at some point. He's the Joker, in a movie with Batman in the title. How could he not.
Well, now, Leto is, in fact, headed to next summer's DC superhero extravangza. It won't be a major role, obviously, and it's not much more than a cameo. But is is a very large spoiler, so we advise you to steer clear of the following paragraphs if you want to go into Batman v Superman as unspoiled as possible.
A source close to the film claims: "A few weeks ago I'd heard murmurs of a flashback sequence that had supposedly been added to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice where we'd see Jared Leto's Joker beating and killing Jason Todd, aka Robin."
That obviously makes sense, given that we'd heard previous rumors about Ben Affleck's Batman being traumatized over the death of Robin (production materials even showed Jason Todd's grave- another obvious clue). But here's the question we have:
Would that be a little too grim?
Killing off Jason Todd, in itself, isn't anywhere near game-breaking levels of grim. But actually showing the character beaten to death with a crowbar might be (also, if you didn't know, this whole concept comes from the Batman comic "Death in the Family," where Joker beats Jason Todd/Robin to death with a crowbar).
We'll have to wait and see whether this rumor becomes a fact.
As well, the latest design for the Batwing used in Batman v Superman (that was just barely glimpsed in the movie's first trailer) has leaked online. It's viewable above, in case you didn't notice.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice premieres on March 25, 2016.
