Captain America: Civil War Starts Shooting; Expands Further Its Ensemble Cast With Paul Rudd and William Hurt

By

The universe is further expanding, the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is. Marvel Studios officially announced Paul Rudd and William Hurt will now be a part of the ensemble cast for "Captain America: Civil War".

Rudd will carry on with his titular portrayal of Ant-Man (Scott Lang) while Hurt is set to be seen once more in military uniform as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" E. Ross. This casting revelation came very soon after it was announced that both Emily VanCamp (Revenge) will return as Agent 13 and Martin Freeman will likely be Everett Ross in Captain America: Civil War. Rudd will have his character debut in 'Ant-Man' this July 2015 which is the twelfth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hurt is also reprising the role of the antagonistic general which he was first seen in 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Marvel Studios has still kept it under wraps which side the two characters will be sticking with this upcoming movie project.

The premise for this Captain America: Civil War begins immediately after the collateral damage that the world has suffered during the countless immense battles in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans) is now the designated leader of the Avengers. An international incident which involves the group results in the government passing a bill limiting the services of the team and other superhuman activities. This unexpected legislation leads to Captain America and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) to break down the Avengers into two camps of dissimilar views.

Taking sides in this unlikely campaign are the new set of major players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Don Cheadle (War Machine) and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch). Marvel Studios has already begun the first stage of principal photography.

Captain America: Civil War is scheduled to open on May 6, 2016.
