Google posted, later removed, quite a lot of details about their I/O conference recently at the I/O Conference Schedule site. It revealed information about Android M, Voice Access, Android and iOS devices as game controllers, and others.
It was known that one of the sessions had an "Android for Work Update" that reportedly said, "Android M is bringing the power to all kinds of workplaces." The description was then removed by Google.
What the letter "M" stands for is still unknown, however, various Android users are already taking a shot for names such as Muffin, Mud pie, and Meringue. There were also Indian names such as Malai Barfi or Malpoa.
Additional details about the event, via a screenshot, showed:
- Google Cloud Messaging 3.0. It is a new version of the search engine company's messaging platform.
- Voice Access would also be introduced, which is a kind of service that offers anyone access to an Android device through their voices. This feature was said to be "useful for things like driving."
- There was also a "real-time satellite imaging of Earth," where Skybox would be playing a big role about it. Skybox is one of those companies that give high-resolution photography of maps from space. The company reportedly posted a blog that said, "Skybox and Google share more than just a zip code. We both believe in making information (especially accurate geospatial information) accessible and useful. And to do this, we're both willing to tackle problems head on-whether it's building cars that drive themselves or designing our own satellites from scratch."
- Multi-screen Chromecast games (speculated as Chromecast 2). A discussion about mobile designs and "television experience on multiple screens, and adapting existing game design patterns to a multi-screen interactive format." Other discussions also revolve around Android and iOS mobile devices as game controllers, and many more.
- ATAP. This is Google's Advanced Technologies and Products group modeled after DARPA and some type of "wearables" will be presented in the event.
- Polymer 1.0. This is Google's UI toolkit for making websites.
Google's I/O event is scheduled on May 28-29 at Moscone Center West, San Francisco, CA.
