EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) had been cooking a couple of special treats for "Battlefield 4" players as they planned to create more content for free. Meanwhile, Electronic Arts made an earnings call regarding the latest "Battlefield" title in the series, "Battlefield Hardline," and it was reported that the game got 80% of its revenue from the PS4 and Xbox One editions.

DICE confirmed that it had been working on night maps and a brand new community map for "Battlefield 4." The best part of this would be that the new content for the game would all be for free. Apart from that, DICE also mentioned that all future content for "Battlefield 4" would be launched for free, based on a report from BF4Central.

Dice producer David Sirland also confirmed this piece of information and that the upcoming free content for "Battlefield 4" would be released for both Premium and non-Premium players. Apart from the maps, the upcoming free content would include the anticipated Gunmaster game mode as well as new weapons.

The five new weapons that would be released for free on "Battlefield 4" would include N-94 assault rifle, Groza-1 assault rifle, Groza-2 assault rifle, L86A1 assault rifle, and the Mare's Leg, aka Saddle Gun Sniper (compact rifle/pistol). The Gunmaster game mode as well as the new weapons would be released on the upcoming spring patch, based on a report from Gamespresso.

Add to that, DICE would be releasing another patch by summer. The summer patch would include the night maps and the new community map that was mentioned earlier. The night maps would be the evening versions of previously released maps, including "Zavod 311" and "Siege of Shanghai."

Meanwhile, Electronic Arts made an earnings call regarding the latest title in the "Battlefield" series. EA said that "Battlefield Hardline," which was released on March 17th got 80% of its revenue from sales of its PS4 and Xbox One editions, based on a report from TweakTown.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen also noted that based on their data, the players' transition to PS4 and Xbox One was much faster compared to PS3 and Xbox 360. Jorgensen explained that four out of five sold copies of "Battlefield Hardline" were coming from the PS4 and Xbox One editions.
