Arnold Schwarzenegger gets back in the big screen with the movie "Maggie" together with Abigail Breslin who plays the title character. A directorial debut of Henry Hobson, the film is not a typical zombie movie.
In Middle America, a viral plague infected Wade's (Schwarzenegger) runaway daughter Maggie (Breslin). As she returns home, slowly she becomes someone unrecognizable which is an after-effect of a zombie bite. "Maggie" is a story about a father and daughter who will have to fight a zombie epidemic, and here they will show us not how zombies are like, but more like a dramatic story that will pinch our hearts.
Abigail Breslin, who is no longer an amateur playing a role in zombie movies (because she starred in "Zombieland years ago"), said that the movie "Maggie" is way too different than any other zombie films. In this movie, it will take many weeks before a zombie-bitten human actually "turns."
As for Arnold Schwarzenegger, he said he was grateful for the movie. "This is very different than the 'Terminator,' which is an action movie. This is a dramatic piece. It's the most human character I've ever played. This movie focuses on people and the dilemma my character is in. The strong father that can handle anything. All of a sudden he's challenged and becomes very vulnerable."
Jeoly Richardson, who plays the role of Maggie's mother, also said "The cast had no qualms taking on a new director. "Henry had a vision. Some people can have visions, but then they really don't know how to follow through with their visions. He gave us all very specific notes on exactly what he wanted. He had the balls; if he didn't like what Arnold, Abigail Breslin or I was doing, tell us how he wanted it. That takes courage so we're thankful for him."
Aside from Schwarzenegger and Breslin, "Maggie" also stars Jeoly Richardson, Laura Cayouette, Raeden Greer, Denise Williamson, Amy Brassette, and J.D. Evermore. Written by John Scott under Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate, the indie-film is set to release on May 8.
