SM Entertainment is firm with its announcement that Tao remains to be part of the boy band EXO. Several rumors about Tao's departure from the group have been reported for the last months. Tao on the other goes to the US a few days after attending his 22^nd birthday celebration prepared by fans.

EXO's Tao has finally made his first public appearance in China after going home to rest due to an ankle industry. He celebrated his 22^nd birthday together with his fans last May 2 in China. Several reports about his departure from EXO have been making the rounds before that but the singer continues to stay mum about the issue. Tao reportedly arrived with a mask on during the event.

He gracefully granted an interview and provided details about his recovery. "I am trying to recover now," he shares. Fans prepared a tribute video for the celebrant that made the singer cry. "I am thankful for fans all over the world. I really love you all I will make sure to fulfill the promises I made to all of you. If you give me some time, I will come back and stand before everyone once again," Tao assured fans.

According to earlier reports, Tao's father would rather has his child at home, resting and recovering from his injuries at present rather than being seen working in the entertainment industry. This statement triggered rumors of Tao's departure from the SM Entertainment's EXO group.

Meanwhile, contrary to Tao's assurance to fans, an official statement from SM Entertainment about Tao's departure from EXO is still being anticipated by fans.

On May 7, Tao was allegedly spotted at the Beijing Airport boarding a flight to the United States. Fans are assuming that he is going to continue his treatment in the US or would be pursuing his studies while recovering from his injuries. An intriguing photo posted by a fan featured a new signature of Tao increasing the possibility of his confirmed withdrawal from the group. His signature was changed from EXO-Tao to Z.Tao.

SM Entertainment's latest statement this April is that Tao is still part of the EXO group. Tao on the other is not providing details about his current status in the boy band. If Tao leaves EXO, he would be the third member to leave after Luhan and Kris.
