Rumors of PS4 Slim being revealed at this year's E3 or Gamescom began floating around as soon as Sony had updated PlayStations across all versions, up to PS3.
The slim variant to the 8th generation video game console of the Japanese platform holder was seen as the next inevitable step, according to WCCF Tech.
But the recent pronouncement of the PS4 Company puts Gamescom out of the running for the big reveal.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) released a notice that it will not be at the Gamescom Germany in August this year.
According to PlayStation Universe (PSU) Sony says it will instead be at the Paris Games Week. "We're delighted to announce that we will be hosting an international media briefing at Paris Games Week on 27th October," announced the company.
The statement also points to the changes in the schedules of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and the Gamescom as its reason for moving its press conference to the Paris event. The non-participation at the 2015 Gamescom press briefings marks the first time for Sony since the annual event started in 2009, notes PSU.
"With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period for gaming."
"We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing some exciting announcements. We will share more information closer to the time," the release said.
Sony, however, is still marked for a press conference slot in the E3 2015 schedule tentatively on June 15. E3 lists Sony will be all about PS4. Traditionally according to E3, "major game publishers hold press conferences to announce their big news for the coming year."
Sony will also be at E3 in June 17-18 to award the grand prize for a site promotion on PlayStation Heroes application. The winner gets to travel to the big E3 event at Los Angeles, California and play a video game for the PS4 system with Adam Boyles and Shuhei Yoshida.
A PS4 Slim is not on the scheduled agenda but if it will be revealed this year indications point to either an E3 or Paris Games Week reveal.
