Disney's new film remake of its animated classic "Beauty and the Beast" is not slated to be released until 2017 but the studio already boasted its stellar cast led by Emma Watson. The actress is also planning to star in the fantasy trilogy "The Queen of the Tearling," which has released its first novel already.
Disney has picked Emma Watson to be the modern Belle of its new film adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast." The "Harry Potter" alum will be donning the bright-yellow ball gown as she leads a gigantic cast including, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as Le Fou, and Audra McDonald as Garderobe.
Watson will also be singing in the film, an aspect that the actress admitted as the main challenge in making the film. She even revealed that she will be having singing lesson in preparation for the role.
The 24-year old star has done quite a lot after her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" franchise for a decade. Despite being vocal that she'd never do another franchise again, Watson has shown interest in embarking in another fantasy series.
The actress is eyeing Erika Johansen's "Queen of the Tearling" to be her second shot in making a franchise of film adaptation under the fantasy genre. The book opens a trilogy that is still yet to be written by Johansen. It focuses on Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, who must journey to the royal castle and claim her throne. Her quest will be challenged by the Red Queen that is out to destroy her.
Emma will star in and produce the film with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman. The actress admits that her decision to make another fantasy series again meant that she'll have "a certain amount of autonomy" in the film. Watson is clearly trying to make a mark in the industry as she expressed her intention to go behind the camera in the future.
"I'd love to direct something one day. I'd love to produce as well, so it's quite a nice way to start learning about that. Yeah, just dipping my toes into that world," the actress said.
Emma Watson will start filming "Beauty and the Beast" this month with the film's roster of veteran actors. Aside from her latest Disney project, Watson also revealed that she will be back in making another fantasy series again but this time, she wants some control over the project.
