There's good news for fans of Wasteland 2, an apocalyptic RPG developed by InXile Entertainment, as it has been announced that they will be releasing a free upgrade to a Game of the Year Edition. This can be expected this summer and it will make a lot of changes and overhaul to the game's current state, including better visuals, better game engine, improved gameplay, and new lines in voice-overs.
The upgrade is free for those who already own the game and will be available this summer for all Linux, Mac, and PC versions. Wasteland 2: Game of the Year Edition will give the game a complete changeover to Unity 5 game engine, which is mainly the reason why physical improvements is possible for the game. These changes include better lighting (due to the Physically Based Rendering technology being employed), enhanced environment texture, and improved character models.
Gameplay is also reported to be improved by the new upgrade. Some of the exciting new features of the gameplay are the Precision Strike system and the New Perks and Quirks. The Precision Strike system is a new addition that allows players to actually target an enemy's individual body part to deliver a "power hit" and have a better chance at defeating enemies. As for the New Perks and Quirks, these include better customization for Desert Rangers as well as unique bonuses and trade-offs.
To complete the upgrades on the Wasteland 2: Game of the Year Edition, an overall game improvement on game balance amended combat encounters, and enhanced item drops are also confirmed in the upcoming upgrade.
With all these improvements confirmed by the game developers, fans will surely have a lot to look forward to. Just make sure that you have already purchased the game so you can have the upgrade totally free. Although there has not yet been any confirmed exact date yet, the Wasteland 2: GoTY Edition's free upgrade should be available to players before the summer ends.
