Nintendo's new game for Wii U, Splatoon is set for release this month, but already updates, new maps, and weapons are ready before the launch. The game also has other features that allow players to access built-in games for times when the waiting queue for matchmaking is taking quite a while.
Japanese gaming company Nintendo has announced the release of their latest multi-player shooter game Splatoon, made for Wii U. It is set to be a big game as the company was reportedly planning to gradually release new stages, game battle modes, gears, and weapons throughout this summer. They are also releasing some free trial games before the official launch, so players can go ahead and download these trials and check out how the game works. These free trial games are an hour long and can be downloaded for free over at the eShop.
Splatoon is designed to be an action shooter game that makes use of charming little squid characters that has the ability to morph into human form for single and multiplayer battles. Even before its launch, Nintendo has already announced updates and new maps that can be downloaded to the game. New weapons and outfits are also set to be released in lime for the game's launch. It has been confirmed that a new weapon called the Ink Brush is already to be released. It allows players to run real quick and leave a streak of color on the ground where they ran. New outfits are also set to be released. Reportedly, there will be new clothes and shoes.
In terms of game modes, there are two new multiplayer modes set to be introduced. In Tower Control mode, players form teams and compete against other team for the control of a tower sitting at the center of the arena. Once conquered, players need to defend it as they ride it through enemy territory to reach the goal. The other mode is Rainmaker and there have not been any info regarding this mode yet.
The game is said to be in NES-style and will come with a built-in mini game that can be accessed while players wait for their turn in the matchmaking queues. It's an 8-bit style game called Squid Jump, designed to pass the time.
Set to be released on May 29, Splatoon is designed for Nintendo Wii U and will also be updated again by August to include a four-person online team battle.
