Bill Prady, producer of the 'Big Bang Theory' is going to revive the 'Muppets.' After a long 20 years, The 'Muppet' show will be back on television in a more adult setting. The order for a full series of the 'Muppets' was already announced by ABC.
When it was screened last month, 'The Muppets' show received a standing ovation on its pilot presentation at ABC. 'The Muppets' will be a "contemporary" and "explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires."
Also, it will be in a "documentary-style" kind of set-up, and still be family friendly. So it is still a show for kids of all ages. In the 1950's, 'The Muppets,' created by Jim Henson, had its first appearance on television then got their own show in the 70's.
'The Muppets' already had a prime time slot on ABC network in 1996. It was 'Muppets Tonight' then, and in 1989 also had a prime time run on NBC but only with nine out of 12 episodes due to low ratings. Kermit the Frog, Frozzie Bear, Miss Piggy and the gang will return again with a comedy series that will surely be loved by many.
One of the new shows that ABC has picked up to be aired this year is 'Dr. Ken.' It is about a bright physician who wants nothing but to be a good doctor. Fortunately, he has beside him a great wife named Allison who balances everything in their lives.
Among the ordered series to be aired in ABC are How to Get Away with Murder, Marvel's Agents of Shield (new series), Grey's Anatomy and the Real O'Neals.
Executive-produced by co-writers Bob Kushell (Anger Management) and Bill Prady, ABC Studios and The Muppets Studio are the producers of 'The Muppets.'
