Most certainly, Samsung Galaxy S4 is no longer the primary flagship product of the world's biggest smartphone manufacturer, the South Korean chaebol Samsung Electronics. But it's no push-over, either. Last look, its 20-million-units-sold in two months upon launching is still an unbeaten record in Samsung history. The latest Android 5.0 Lollipop roll-out just made S4 even more formidable.
Put in stunning 'Material Design' and UI and a customer-oriented phone carrier and you've got a resulting product that's going to give Samsung's greatest competitor a run for their money: Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4.
And this latest update give us an inkling why Samsung Inc. and its slew of latest offerings and updates is still the man to beat in the ever-expanding Android universe. The Korean tech behemoth made it a point that most every flagship product - if not all - are being taken cared of when it comes to the latest Android Lollipop roll-out.
Truth to tell, Samsung Galaxy S4 may even pale in comparison to its younger more advanced brothers. From the onset, the recently-launched flagship products Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are packed with a punch as the products are shipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop and the much-ballyhooed updated TouchWiz UI right out of the box.
As for goodies, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is a must-have. Unmistakable proof: rave reviews from Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users.
Certainly, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Not only has the update been longed for, Samsung has been lavishly praised for the polished finish of TouchWiz when you talk about performance and overall UI.
Much of the credit and all the stunning looks should be given to Android 5.0 Lollipop's "Material Design" which has done its magic on TouchWiz. For the uninitiated, Material Design which initially was codenamed Quantum Paper, is a design language developed by Google unleashed during the Google I/O conference in June 25, 2014. What it does is give responsive and more colorful animations and effects.
If you want to check for the update manually, grab your Samsung Galaxy S4 and go to:
Settings >> More >> System Update >> Update Samsung Software >> Check Now.
Bear in mind that this update is OTA and is rolling out in stages. Meaning: It may take time to get notified. For details, please check Galaxy S4's support page here.
Note that this update may also work for the hi-speed network Spark model. Primarily, however, it's the Sprint Galaxy S4 that benefits most from this Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
