Apple will finally update their Apple TV. Since its initial release in 2012, the Apple TV had been stagnant despite the continuous smart phone releases and updates that the Cupertino based company is rolling out. Finally however, Apple is to bring an update to the iTV with its new force touch remote.

It is rumored that Apple will be updating its Apple TV this year. The release is estimated to happen at the WWDC on June 8. The new device is said to be powered with an A8 chip and will revamped in a way that will enable access to the App store. The Apple TV will feature a voice command feature or Siri will be coming its way to the device. Also, internet-tv service is in the works for the Apple TV.

A report from the New York Times Company had claimed that a touch-pad will accompany the release of the Apple TV this summer. The report had mentioned that the brand new remote will be thicker than the previous version. It is said to be similar in size to the Amazon Echo speaker. It will also incorporate a touch pad beside the two physical buttons in order for the users to navigate the Apple TV user interface.

According to the report, the new Apple TV remote can provide the option regarding the speed at which the user fast forwards and rewinds the shows. The force touch feature is optimized whenever the user presses harder, the programme whizzes faster.

Conveniently, the Apple TV uses a coin cell battery instead of the AAA batteries that most set-box remotes use. The remote uses a directional pad and buttons for selection, menu, and pause/play.

Finally, the revamped Apple TV will finally make its way to our living room. The new Force Touch Remote would certainly bring lots of innovations to Apple. And this could be best confirmed by the time Apple TV is released at the WWDC event.
