After news came out that NBC has cancelled Constantine and will not be picked for a second season, fans are mourning but still hoping a new network will give the show a new home. But talks of a crossover with Arrow have been circulating, even before Constantine was axed. Could there be hope for the show's future?
Even Arrow star himself Stephen Amell was heard talking about a possible crossover with Constantine as he admits that there have been talks about the said crossover even before it was cancelled. Although it seemed that the idea was swept under the rug, execs at the CW have not forgotten about it. it was justa case of the idea not reaching maturity and the writers not able to create a story arc involving the supernatural detective in the Arrow world yet. Not yet.
And the possibility of Constantine helping out Arrow is not impossible. Both shows are based on DC Comics and both characters exist in the DC Universe. It will just be up to the writers to create a situation where Oliver Queen will need John Constantine's aid somehow. What a daunting task, though.
Constantine follows the adventures (and misadventures) of supernatural detective John Constantine as he tries to solve mysterious happenings, with evidence that only he can see. He deals with the undead and other supernatural beings with grit and resilience, making him quite lovable to the fans.
Arrow, on the other hand, is about billionaire playboy Oliver Queen turned vigilante. After surviving five years stranded in a seemingly deserted island that turned out to be some sort military prison camp, Queen somehow returns home to Starling City a changed man. He had vowed to his father before he shot himself that he will clean up the city and make amends for the wrong he had done.
Somewhere between the stories of these two shows, there should be a common ground where the writers can come up with a crossover for Arrow AND Constantine. Arrow season 4 is definitely coming soon as it has been confirmed last January 11, and it will air 23 episodes.
