In an interview with the Sunday Guardian, Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood reveals that the band are working on completing their ninth studio album after the band's hiatus. Greenwood states that they have done two months of recording and that all is well. Greenwood emphasizes that their recording so far has been delightful. He further states,

"We haven't listened to anything back yet, so at the moment we're all very happy. Now, I guess we're going to go and listen to what we've done and see if we were right to be so happy. But we left it at a good place when we last stopped".

Radiohead is notable for their ambiguous sound, and have been changing over the years since their debut in the commercial music industry in 1992. With regards to their sound, Greenwood states that Radiohead have "certainly changed our method again. It's too involved [to explain how]. We're kind of limiting ourselves; working in limits. So we'll see what happens. It's like we're trying to use very old and very new technology together to see what happens."

The band have been recording and working on separate artistic musical endeavors since 2012, and have released works with different artists. Greenwood has been living and recording a studio album with Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur and 12 Indian musicians in Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur. In an interview with Drowned in Sound, fellow Radiohead member Philip Selway gave good news for the band's recording progress, and that the record is "coming along nicely", but have yet to reveal a date for the album's release.

While fans remain hopeful that new Radiohead music will be released this year, Radiohead have yet to announce a release date for their 9th studio album.
