Mindy Kaling gets away with feministic joke, talks about cancelling The Mindy Project

Mindy Kaling got surprised when her risky feminism joke on The Mindy Project did not get her into trouble. She also chatted with InStyle about the future of her show and her confused relationship status.

Pointing out/criticising some social issues, especially the delicate ones, often ends in social media bashing, but Mindy got out of it with humor.

"There was one joke that I'm surprised was not flagged," Kaling chatted with InStyle. "The character Danny doesn't want Mindy to go back to San Francisco to start a fertility clinic; he wants her to stay in New York, stop working, and take care of their family ... She's like, 'It's the 20th century, Danny. A woman can work and have a baby with no problem. I mean, rich women can.'"

She admitted that she had recognized the risk of such statement but it might just be worth telling. She understands that the joke was very risky but she's also conviced that it's true.

"The only people writing those articles [about having it all] are women who are doing very well or come from money. But we make it sound like it's a totally universal thing."

With the news on Fox calling off The Mindy Project, Kaling is quite positive that the show will still have its run on the network.

"I can just say that I don't think it's over for these characters," Mindy assured her fans.

Meanwhile, the comedienne also described her relationship with B.J. Novak, and, by the sound of it, it doesn't seem like it's going to qualify in the Sweet Flicks list.

"I will freely admit my relationship with B.J. Novak is weird as hell," Cosmopolitan quoted. "He is not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend. I guess you could describe our relationship as a 'romantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,' but I don't think Facebook would accept this as a new status."

When she was asked about her thoughts on getting married, she shared that she wants to have kids, reported Huffington Post.

Although she's not made up her mind about the right age to marry, she admits that getting married and having kids are some of the things she would eventually want for herself. Her relationship with her mom has had such impact in her life.
