‘Indiana Jones 5’ Latest Cast Update: Chris Pratt is the Strongest Candidate to Replace Harrison Ford as Dr. Jones

Good news: "Indiana Jones 5" is finally happening. However, certain elements for the movie to become a reality are not yet available.

At the "Star Wars" interview with Vanity Fair, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that plans for the sequel of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull" have been tackled in the company.

Kennedy said in a statement that the next Indy film "will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I'm not quite sure. We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."

When Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, part of the bigger prizes that Disney acquired from the deal was the Indiana Jones franchise. However, Disney has no concrete plans yet on how to go about the project.

"We haven't done anything. We don't have a story. We need a story," shared Disney chairman Alan Horn.

Even without a script, a handful of directors are already taking an interest in directing "Indiana Jones 5." Steven Spielberg, who directed the past Indiana films, for one, has shown interest in directing the new Indiana Jones film. Matthew Vaugh ("Kingsman: The Secret Service") has also expressed interest in directing the film.

The most talked about part of the still script-less movie is whether Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Dr. Jones. Although already considered to be a veteran actor and has been the face of the franchise since the beginning, the 72-year-old "Star Wars" actor has to hand down the fedora to a younger fellow who can carry the role excellently like Ford did in his time. This likens to how James Bond alumni passed the role so the new actor continue doing missions as how the descriptions fit the Bond figure.

Bradley Cooper, Robert Pattinson, and Tom Hardy are among the choices to be the next fedora-sporting professor. Many speculations though reveal that Chris Pratt ("Guardians of the Galaxy") might just steal the iconic role in the movie.

Pratt can actually take the spot perfectly as Dr. Jones albeit no script and director has been finalized yet. With "Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull" earning $800 million in the franchise's last installment at an estimated budget of $185 million surely has Disney taking the upcoming "Indiana Jones 5" seriously to not disappoint the fans anticipating its release in the future.
