"Taken" franchise action star Liam Neeson who mentioned earlier that he is likely to drop action movies in two years' time, seems to be extracting all the action that he can out of the time he has allotted himself as he is set to star in Mad River Productions' "A Willing Patriot".
Liam Neeson is in final talks to star in yet another cat-and-mouse, terrorist-themed action thriller "A Willing Patriot". The 62-year-old actor is set to play the role of a CIA who engages in a cat-and-mouse sinister game with a terrorist group. With enemies who are planning an imminent attack, Neeson's character is willing to risk his life to stop them and avenge his mysterious past.
Marc Butan of Sierra/Affinity who represents the international rights of the film expressed his excitement to have Neeson on board and referred him as " one of the defining actors of our generation" which the audiences would love to see. "After seeing Martin Zandvliet's new film "Land Of Mine", we knew he was an incredible storyteller and the perfect match to collaborate with Liam."
"A Willing Patriot" which is fully-financed and produced by MadRiver Productions will be directed by Martin Zandvliet ("Applause"). Jason Keller ("Escape Plan" and "Mirror Mirror"), who penned the script, will also produce together with Film 360's Guymon Casady and Darin Friedman, and Hollywood Gang's Gianni Nunnari.The action thriller film which was originally developed at Warner Bros before it was acquired by MadRiver, is currently being launched to buyers at Cannes Film Festival.
After ending his "Taken" trilogy, the actor has recently appeared in the crime thriller "Run All Night" and is currently filming Martin Scorsese's (The Wolf of Wall Street) upcoming historic-drama "Silence" which also stars Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield. Once the latter finishes its production, Neeson is set to begin shooting on "A Willing Patriot" later this year.
"A Willing Patriot" has not set a release date yet, but it will probably hit cinemas sometime in 2016.
