The controversies behind Tao's status with EXO and SM Entertainment continue to remain unresolved. At present, Tao is in the US undergoing treatment after suffering from ankle injuries almost a month ago. A rumored lawsuit filed by his father against SM Entertainment is also making the rounds online. A former SM Entertainment artist on the other hand, Noh Min Woo is confirmed to file a case against at SM Entertainment claiming to be a victim of the agency's "slave contracts."

Rumors of an alleged lawsuit against SM Entertainment via EXO Tao's father are making the rounds online. No official reports on the lawsuits were revealed but an alleged response from SM Entertainment was posted online via an EXO fan's Twitter account. According to the post, "SM Entertainment says that, 'recently, we have been in the process of discussing the prospect of letting Tao promote/have activities in China with Tao and his father. We feel very sorry that this kind of letter has to come out. Whatever it is, we will make arrangements to discuss the matter with Tao's father and try to lead the matter in a positive direction.'"

Tao was moved to China by his father last April after suffering from an ankle injury. He shared his sentiments about Tao's several injuries during his stint in EXO. He wants nothing but to see his son fully recovered leading to their decision to leave for China. Tao celebrated his birthday together with fans last May 2, 2015 in China and was seen leaving for the US days after the event. Tao promised fans that he will be returning and asks for their support throughout this difficult time.

Meanwhile another SM Entertainment artist is filing lawsuits against the agency. Noh Min Woo a former member of SM Entertainment's TRAX claims that he is one of the first victims of SM Entertainment's "slave contracts."

Noh Min Woo is asking for a 100 million KWR or US$90,000 compensation for the damages that the SM Entertainment had caused during his last few months under their management. He also filed a report against SM to the Fair Trade Commission for allegedly "unfair corporate practices." Unlike Luhan who filed a case while his contract is still valid, Woo filed his case after his contract ended.

MJ Dreamsys is the current housing agency of Noh Min Woo and revealed, "SM Entertainment noticed his talents early and, before Noh Min Woo debuted, they extended the exclusive contract by 17 years. According to the rules of Fair Trade Commission, any standard exclusive contract form that is over seven years can be cancelled by the entertainer at any time."

According to MJ Dreamsys, Woo showed resistance after the attempt of being tied into a slave contract. This allegedly triggered SM Entertainment's "revenge" when the agency made it impossible for him to appear on any broadcasting stations.

SM Entertainment has no official retaliation or comments against Woo's allegations as well as Tao's status in EXO. Tao on the other hand updates fans on his US recovery via his Instagram account.
