Disney Infinity 3.0 brings the racing gameplay to its toys with the Speedway Toy Box. Sold separately from the starter pack, racing enthusiasts can now enjoy racing with their favorite Disney characters along familiar Disney locations.
As part of the announcements of the past few weeks regarding the launch of Disney Infinity 3.0, a new gameplay is available for the Toy Box mode. This is the Speedway, the gameplay for those who are into racing. Using the Speedway Tow Box means players can play with the existing roster of Disney Infinity 3.0 characters. Each character then has their own unique car that matches each character's universe and personality. And it's not your ordinary racing game, developer emphasized that Speedway Toy Box is pretty much like Mario Kart in that it is an arcade racing game. Players don't just race to win, they need to special power-ups and weapons.
Images over at the Disney Infinity official website show racepods from Star Wars, Elsa on her own Frozen-themed racer, along with the classics Mickey, Minnie, and Donald with their own racers. More characters will be revealed as other characters will be confirmed to join Infinity 3.0. No information yet on whether the racers can be customized by the players, but it did mention than players can mix and match the race karts.
The race tracks also vary for each theme, although it is not dependent on the players who are racing. The themed race tracks include Monsters In., Frozen, Star Wars, and Wreck-it-Ralph. Other themes have not yet been confirmed.
While a racing gameplay is exciting news for Disney Infinity fans, one needs to remember that the Speedway Toy Box is an add-on game, and to be able to play this, one needs to buy the starter pack first. And since the Speedway Toy Box is sold separately, this has t be purchased, too.
As Disney Infinity 3.0 will be released sometime this year, maybe before the year ends, the Speedway Toy Box will then be available shortly after the launch.
