While fans are a little devastated that their favorite Hellblazer occult hero John Constantine wouldn't be returning for the TV show's season 2 under NBC Universal, things were looking up as prospects of having it homed to Syfy and CW.
Earlier this month, the announcement of showrunner Daniel Cerone of NBC's cancellation of the supernatural action-thriller series, due to the lack of having new viewers, marked a heat towards its surprisingly huge fanbase, driving with them a force to find a new home network, to help the show survive.
Cerone had been actively posting the development for the salvage of the show, where they only have until June since that's when the show's actor's contracts expire.
Screenrant showed the overall viewership of the show had averaged around 3.5 million households weekly. The show ended its first season with 3.3 million viewers, a slight improvement over its series low penultimate episode 2.96 million.
This led NBC to cancel the continuation of the show, after a few weeks of leaving the fans and Cerone on an on-hold gear. This forced Cerone to ask help from its cousin networks Syfy and CW.
Some of the networks Cerone were still dealing things with Syfy, though it was then swiftly denied by the network. However for CW, supporters hold on to the big chance of surviving the show since the network has been known to be related with DC Comic lead shows scuh as Arrow and The Flash.
Latest tweets between Cerone and CW President Mark Pedowitz about the development of the possibility. Cerone tweeted yesterday "Despite ongoing talks I'm told things are not looking up for #Constantine at CW. Don't have details. Feeling wrecked about it. #Hellblazers"
But it was then followed by Pedowitz told tvseriesfinale.com, that the talks about CW not saving Constantine is just plain rumor. In which he jokingly added, "There's also a rumor going around that I was going to play for the NBA."
Things haven't been really clear for the fans if they are still going to get to see another round of angels-versus-demons television journey, but that doesn't mean everyone doesn't have their fingers crossed.
