Gear of War: Ultimate Edition screenshots suggest rumors of the remake being done appear to be true

Fans pining and pleading for a shinier and prettier Gears of War may finally be getting exactly what they asked for as new screenshots show what appear to be more advanced gameplay images of the title.

The new images, shared by Gamepur, show off some familiar scenes being depicted at 60fps. The remastered version of Gears of War is reportedly being made by Splash Damage, but there is almost nothing else revealed about the remastered title other than the splendid images.

Screenshots of what appears to be a remastered version of Gears of War should not come as much of a surprise to people who have been tracking news about the game. Recently, a game going by the name Gears of War: Ultimate Edition appeared on, of all places, the website of a Brazilian Advisory Rating System Website, according to IGN.

It's worth pointing out that there's no official word concerning a game by the name of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, but it doesn't take too big of a leap to say that this Ultimate Edition could be the remastered version that's been rumored to be in development. While there is no official word at the moment, that could be changing very soon, as a spokesperson for Microsoft has said that there will be at least one announcement related to the franchise made at E3.

If Splash Damage is the party working on the remastered version of Gears of War, then that opens the door for a completely new Gears of War game also being announced at E3. According to Gamespot, Black Tusk Studios is currently working on a new installment for the franchise which could soon be making its way to the Xbox One.

Microsoft has offered nothing in the form of an official statement regarding even just one game currently in the works, so fans can only go by the recent developments thus far. In any case, E3 in June will be a must-watch for all Gears of War fans.
