Payday 2: Crimewave Edition for PS4 and Xbox One is not all good news. Besides the rave about the additional content, brand new updates, along with emphasis on customization and player experience, there are former capabilities that will no longer be available for the game's upcoming version.
Among them is the non-availability of the newest Payday 2 updates for two consoles that used to be supported by Overkill. These are the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Overkill confirmed that the upcoming version will support current gen consoles, thus its upcoming release for the PS4 and Xbox One. If it's any consolation, the servers will remain open but Xbox 360 and PS3 users shouldn't expect any updates from it.
File size made the Payday 2's former versions for video game consoles a little lacklustre compared to the PC version and it could be the same reason that the game's developers are keeping it off for the Sony and Microsoft's older console models.
Indeed with the 50 updates including new heists, 99 different weapons, and more than 140 masks to unlock coming to the updated edition for PS4 and Xbox One, storage may very well be an issue with the said consoles.
The developers of Payday 2, however, promised to make up for that with the Payday 2: Crimewave Edition. How? First, by making the up-to-date Payday 2 PC version available for Xbox One and PS4. The increase in pixel to 1080p across both platforms also offers better display. On top of this are the customisation features that can give rise to new approaches for the gameplay. This, according to GAMINGBOLT, does not only pertain to aesthetic qualities of the mask but in terms of the gameplay itself. Examples include the Player loadouts and Fugitive class.
The Payday 2: Crimewave Edition is "essentially the up-to-date PC version" and it will be released on June 12 in Europe and in June 16 in North America. While it can be played solo, missions are easier to accomplish when it is played with a team because the game is designed for online cooperative play.
