Fans of the series Legend of Korra is on the edge of utter anticipation for a movie spin-off even since 2012. That is despite the 'disastrous' product of M. Night Shyamalan The Last Airbender which was released last 2010.
It was even believed that the movie, which will presumably be shown through online streaming on Netflix, will come out by 2016. Even Paramount Pictures were said to have been working hand in hand with several people for the plot. Even moviepilot listed the 'dream cast' for the movie.
The Nickelodeon TV series, which was concluded by the revealing of a lesbian relationship of the main characters Korra and Asami, left fans groping for something more, whether by another line for the series or a spin-off or an online streaming or so. Supporter petitions were even done to urge the pursuit of making these dreams come to reality. And with the further questions leading onto what happens next to Kuvira, Zaheer, and the rest of the kingdom especially Earth Kingdom, Korra's adventures must not come to an end.
Though, sadly, it seems the series have really just gone to an end.
The discontinuance of the dream spin-off was caused by the breakup of the show's creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino to work on individual projects, and each confirmed that their Avatar partnership have just gone to an end. They have said that even though it's a sad move, it's a lot better to do it.
"We're all tired and burnt out," the animation co-creators told Hypable. "We need to move on and take that next step."
While this is a totally sad goodbye for our favorite Avatar, the show's team however is still planning for a different series, though not centered on the Avatar world. More so, Konietzko and DiMartino are still connecting with people for a comic book of the Legend of Korra.
For now, it seems the dream is not really meant to happen. What do you Avatar fans think about it?
