While the concern of "Grand Theft Auto V" PC edition players regarding the alleged ban against players using mods in the single player mode of the game were clearly ironed out by Rockstar, a new issue had surrounded a currently released mod; this time it was reported to be carrying malware.
A number of concerned "GTA V" players had made a research regarding a variety of recently released mods for the game and found out that some of these included malware; the gaming community posted their findings in the game's Reddit page, GTAForums, based on a report from GameSpot.
One of the reported cases was that one of the infected mods would install a Trojan "fade.exe" that would allegedly create log files and would later on transmit the information online. The Trojan would supposedly be activated the moment the "Grand Theft Auto V" player opened that game and used that mod; simply downloading the mods would not affect the game.
Meanwhile, the report that came for the gaming community regarding the infected mods did not mention all the PC edition game mods that contain malware. However, "GTA V" players were advised to take caution in downloading mods; run a virus scan or anti-malware software; and change passwords on the game if the players downloaded a mod and suspected that it might contain malware.
On the other hand, two mods were identified by the gaming community to contain malware as was reported by several "Grand Theft Auto V" PC edition players, based on a report from PC Gamer. The game mods that were in questions were "Angry Planes" and "No Clip" mod.
Based on that report of those who encountered that problem with these two mods, Angry Planes "did exactly what it advertised, however it also spawned a thread that installed malware on your machine behind the scenes. The threat was not picked up by running the .asi file through VirusTotal, which made it difficult to detect before running. This was an extremely sneaky attack, something I can't say I've seen in 12 years of GTA modding."
Then again, there had been other recently released game modifications for "Grand Theft Auto V" PC edition that players could still download, with the necessary caution in downloading these mods of course, based on a report from The Verge.
The latest list of favorite game mods compiled a recent gaming report for "GTA V" would include "Bodyguard Menu V1.5 - Epsilon Takeover;" "Snow Mode Online Gameplay;" North Yankton Map Glitch Online;" "Hancock - The Robber - GTA 5 Short Film - GTA V PC Editor;" "Gravity Gun Mod;" "Fuel Mod V4 / Gas Stations;" "Trucking Missions Minigame;" "Open All Interiors Mod;" "Mods Pedestrian Riot;" "Ragdoll Cut Scene Montage #1;" "Tsunami Hits Los Santos;" and "Car Cannon Gun Mod Gameplay."
