Joe Satriani New Album Update: Guitarist Teases New Track ‘On Peregrine Wings’; Record Out In July

By

After a two-year hiatus and a fourteenth studio album, American instrumental rock guitarist Joe Satriani is back to dominate his genre as he recently announced the release date of his fifteenth album "Shockwave Supernova" to debut this July 24. And as a teaser, the multi-instrumentalist also dropped a preview of his track "On Peregrine Wings" off the new record.

This new LP "Shockwave Supernova" from Joe Satriani is the follow up from his 2013 "Unstoppable Momentum." He recorded it late last year at the Skywalker Sound in Lucas Valley, California. And this must be something extraordinary as it features a trio of world-class musicians who had recently been part of Satriani's global tour. For instance, renowned keyboardist and guitarist Mike Keneally, who is a veteran of some Satch recordings. Satch is actually a nickname of four people including Satriani. Also joining the team are German drummer Marco Minnemann and bassist Bryan Beller, who is known for his work with rock group The Aristocrats.

"I couldn't have asked for a better band to help bring these songs to life," Joe Satriani said in a press release. As for the new album's production, the guitarist has teamed up again with co-producer and engineer John Cuniberti. Satriani has already teamed up with Cuniberti on most of his previous albums, so rest assured that the record will still be satisfactory.

Satriani is also up for something as he revealed that he will be one of the first to utilize the new "Friday, Global Release Day" as his new album is slated to release on July 24 this year. If you have a calendar with you, it doesn't hurt to take a peek. It was previously reported that Friday will be the delegated release date for new albums, and this regulation will actually take effect in summer.

Meanwhile, to excite fans with the new material, the guitarist has dropped a preview of the fifth track "On Peregrine Wings." The new LP consists of brand new fifteen songs. In addition to the teased single, the tracklist also includes "Shockwave Supernova," "Lost In A Memory," "Crazy Joey," "In My Pocket," "On Peregrine Wings," "Cataclysmic," "San Francisco Blue," and "Keep On Movin.'" Likewise, completing the tracklist are: "All Of My Life," "A Phase I'm Going Through," "Scarborough Stomp," "Butterfly And Zebra," "If There Is No Heaven," "Stars Race Across The Sky," and last of all, which fits as a conclusion, "Goodbye Supernova."

Moreover, as an early treat, fans can now pre-order the new album, which comes with an exclusive signed poster only at Satriani.com. Before releasing the new material, it was reported that Satriani, together with fellow guitarist Steve Vai, will be performing at a benefit concert in support of music industry veteran Cliff Cultreri on June 12 at Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. Similarly, he will embark on a world tour this fall to commence on September 17 in Europe, and will continue in U.S in early 2016.
