Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference is fast appoaching. Considering the company's shipping time has changed to as long as three weeks, there have been expectations of a new 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro just around the corner.
Speculations were rife that a new 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro is coming due to fluctuations seen in both direct sales and reseller routes, which was seen as the company's way of preparing for a new model's arrival. Over the past month, the "in stock" status of the device at the Online Apple Store slowly dropped to a current "one to two weeks" shipping estimate status. Now, it is posted with a three-week wait period.
The current 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro supplies tighten as the days go by.
A report however, states that people might need to wait longer than the WWDC, which will be held in Los Angeles from 8-12 June, since Intel's roadmap states the Broadwell notebook chips are scheduled either a July or an August 2015 release. That means the part won't be arriving in time for the WWDC, unless the chips are delivered earlier.
The new 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro built with the latest Broadwell processor chips is set to be released by Apple at its Worldwide Developer Conference this coming June. The Broadwell-based Core i5-5657C/5675R and Core i7-5775C/5775R could deliver slightly improved performances, and is set to replace the current iMac and 15-inch MacBook Pro. Both have Intel's 22-nanometer Haswell processors.
Intel announced that the Broadwell chip is going to arrive in high-performance PCs and laptop, and this is said to be the reason as to why the California-based tech giant is speeding up the release of the updated versions of the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro.
The new chipset of the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro is also set with the integrated graphics processor Iris Pro 6200.
On top of that, the refreshed MacBook Pro will also have Pixelmator version 3.3.2. This will bring a more powerful repair tool, support for the new Photos application, and the Force Touch trackpad, the latter allowing owners to use the Force Touch trackpad for pressure sensitive painting for thicker or thinner lines. The app's repair tool used for removing unwanted objects in photos was improved, offering a cleaner result.
Speaking of Force Touch, its trackpad performance was given a little tweaking to improve its performance. The 15-inch MacBook Retina Pro's Solid State Drive performance was also improved, making the computer respond a bit faster. A refreshed and improved 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro is something fans are looking forward to, and June is most likely the end of the waiting period.
