After all the successful superhero movies being lined up from the Marvel Studios, news of yet another superhero movie to be released sometime in the future has been officially announced. The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone is set to direct and co-write the X-men spinoff and the working title is The New Mutants.
There isn't much that the producers have revealed yet, except that it will be an addition to the parade of superhero movies lined up from the Marvel Cinematic Universe until 2019. This means that the stream of action-packed superhero movies will be flowing quite steadily and we'll be seeing around three to five Marvel movies per year. This'll keep fans and movie-goers for quite a while, and keep the millions coming for the producers.
Josh Boone, who is known for directing The Fault In Our Stars, is said to have been hired to direct the film as well as co-write it with Knate Gwaltney.
If the movie will be true to its name, The New Mutants will be based on one of Marvel's comic books that feature young mutants being trained by Professor X. The mutants we will see this time will be new and different. The story is still set a little into the future and this time the new breed of mutants that are being trained are adolescent to teenaged kids trying to deal with their powers and learning how to use them. The original comic book version features Cannonball, Mirage, Wolfsbane, Karma, and Sunspot, along with "senior" mutants Professor X, Magneto, and Cable.
Details about this upcoming movie is still very scarce - no news yet on the cast and when the tentative release date will be. Although one can assume that this movie will not be coming anytime soon, it sure is something to be excited about.
