The Blacklist spoilers: The surprising twist to Liz's story adds more intrigue to one of television's surprising hits

By

There's a pivotal scene in almost any good television series when the audience simply knows the show has now sucked them in indefinitely, and for many of those who may have been religiously or simply just casually following The Blacklist, that time may have just arrived.

The season finale of The Blacklist arguably gave audiences that inflection point after agent Elizabeth Keen (played by Megan Boone), better known as Liz, was overcome by emotions and killed one of the members of the notorious Cabal.

In addition to blood staining the hands of Liz, her partner, Raymond Reddington also revealed to her the things that happened to her father when she was merely a child, according to Variety. The revelation that Liz may have shot and killed her own father adds a more tragic element to the story of Liz, while in the process also seemingly undoing any possibility that Raymond and her may be related, according to Screen Rant.

After the events that transpired, it certainly looks as though Liz and Raymond, played by James Spader, now have a stronger bond than they may have once had, even if it is marred with bloodstains. With details of her background now known, and her name now found on the FBI's most wanted list, Liz now figures to face even more daunting challenges in the next season not just from the Cabal but also from the very same people she once called friends and colleagues.

Even before the highly-intriguing events of the season finale, The Blacklist had already, almost improbably, become a hit show, according to the Guardian Liberty Voice.

The show is doing well particularly among viewers in the 18-49 demographic, which bodes well for the series long term. Success among that group of viewers has almost always led to a lengthy run, and with a great deal of mystery still surrounding the show, those fans are likely going to stay around.
