Fans of the beloved TV series "Friends" are still hoping for a full cast reunion, if not a movie release, 11 years after it went off air in 2004. Fans want it, and the possibility is there, but would its casts want a reunion to mark its 20th anniversary?
For Courtney Cox, who played the role of Monica in the hit TV sitcom, a reunion 10 years after its premier is already too late. What more if the actress would be asked about the possibility of a reunion with all its original cast members 20 years later?
In a recent interview with Yahoo, Cox provided a more direct answer by saying that there won't be any reunion happening soon. She asked fans not to hold their hopes high because as what she told the news site: "It's just not going to happen." The casts of the TV series "Friends" itself are the reason why a reunion is not going to happen.
Regardless, Friends has been an inspiration for many viewers and a fan from China showed the world how much the TV series moved him by creating a version of Central Perk in his home country. Du Xin had to quit his job to form his own coffee shop, called Gunther, where fellow "Friends" fans in Beijing meet to watch and talk about the show. His fascination with the TV sitcom also extends beyond the iconic Central Park coffee shop as he also decorated his apartment like it is Joey and Chandler's place.
Friends of Xin suggested that he watched the show after encountering a difficult breakup. Since then he was hooked particularly due to relationship advice he learned from Chandler. Watching the sitcom has been a therapy for him, and all the characters have helped him get past that hard time in his life.
And even if Friends did lost to MASH in the recently held viewers' choice awards for the best TV finale ever, there will always be fans that will defend it as what editors did as they wrote their defenses for their personal favorites. The show has a very strong fan base that many of them are surely willing to wait for a reunion, no matter how long it takes.
